Hi,
I have a laserjet 3050 printer on a windows 7 64 bit desktop computer, I am trying to network the computer to a windows 10 32 bit lap top.
I tried creating a new port and did get the laptop to send and recieve the document to the printer, but it did not print.
I ran the print and scan docor which comes up as a port match problem.
I tried changing the ports to the one I created and others listed, but nothing works.
I installed the laserjet 3050 driver on the laptop added the new port which comes up as port name access denied.
The printer is connected with a usb connection and I am using a wireless router for both computers.
I can run a usb wire direct from my desktop computer to my laptop, but not sure if a can access the printer this way?
Thanks for any help.
Paul

I got the windows 7 printer HP laserjet 3050 PCL6 working from the windows 10 machine.
I deleted all drivers on both machines.
I followed the instructions here: https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03470332
Method two: Install the driver now from Windows Devices and Printers
On my windows 7 computer I changed the Add a local printer option to the network one; I used my computers IP address.
The only problem I had was that after installation it would not print a test page or show the printer in Devices and Printers; I turned of power to the printer and restarted the computer and printer; then it printed ok.
In the devices and printers-printer properties PORTS: the port is DOT4_001 ; I enabled bidirectional support AND DID NOT ENABLE PRINTER SPOOLING as originaly I had a spooling problem.
On the windows 10 computer I added a new printer using the name of my computer and the name of the printer \\paulscomputer\laser305 you can find this information by going to windows start and typing in 'computer name" and the printer name is the share name by right clicking the printer icon-printer properties-sharing.
Thanks for everyones help.

Hi.
Connecting your two computers via USB cable won't get you what you need. A few follow-up questions:
Can you successfully print to the LJ 3050 from the Windows 7 machine?
If so, have you enabled printer sharing on the Windows 7 machine? This should be all you need to do. Do a google search for "Windows 7 printer sharing". You'll find plenty of articles and videos that will help you set this up. A couple of caveats:
1. Your Win 7 machine and Win 10 machine must be on the same network.
2. Your Win 7 machine needs to be turned on whenever you want to print to the printer from the Win 10 machine.
Let us know if you have any follow-up questions.
Good Luck!

I can print to the printer from the windows 7 machine; sharing is enabled; both machines are on the same router and network; both machines and printer are on all the time; I have tried switching off my avg firewall; have also done searches for networking;
I did get the windows 10 machine to get a document to the printer, but it came up in the windows 7 printer que as an error and did not print. Currently the windows 10 printer comes up as "the printer has experienced an unexpected configuration problem 0x80070771; so I am not sure what to do now?
Thanks.

I ran the scan doctor again and the only problem listed is the "wrong printer port configured"; I am using dot4_001 port.
I cleared all but one printer (the laserjet3050)on the windows 10 machine and set it as the default printer. it did send the document, but the windows7 printer did not receive it?
as far as I know the port on the windows 10 printer is the one I created \\PAULSCOMPUTER\laser305

What I would do at this point is to remove any relavant drivers from both machines, and start from scratch......
Install the printer on your Win 7 machine. Share the printer from your Win 7 machine.
***Also: Since your Win 10 machine is a 32-bit installation, you might be having a driver issue. In the printer's sharing screen on your Win 7 computer, there's an area where you can include "additional drivers". Try checking the x86 box.***
I also have a follow-up question: What steps are you taking, specifically, to install the printer on your Win 7 machine?
Good Luck!

OK I can give that a try later tonight.
I do not have an installaation disc so I am using the laserjet 3050 UPD PCL6 driver for both machines.
I have a USB cable conected to the windows 7 machine and the printer; I installed the printer some time ago, so not sure how I did it.
When I click the x86 it is asking for a driver, what driver do I need and also what port should I use to correct the scan doctor wrong printer port configured?
Thanks for your help.

I did everything as you suggested the windows 10 machine now sends the test page document to the windows 7 printer, but it does not print and is in the print que as "error printing" as a guest; port USB002 which is the correct port the printer is connected to.
What should I do now?
