Hello @hogfish, Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding the HP Deskjet 4255e printer.

We appreciate the opportunity to assist you and are glad we could help work toward a resolution. We hope our support has been valuable.

To help us get started on resolving your issue, could you please perform the steps provided below to restore the network of the printer?

1. Make sure that both the printer and the device are on the same network.

Use the Cancel and Wireless buttons to restore Wi-Fi setup mode.

  • Press the Cancel button to ready the printer.
  • Press and hold the Wireless button and the Cancel button at the same time for five seconds until the Power button starts blinking.
  • Note: Your control panel might look different than the following example, but the steps are the same.

Button presses to restore wireless settings
  • Wait until the blue Wireless button light blinks continuously.
  • Within two hours, return to the app or software to find and add your printer and complete the setup.

2. Once done with the network restore steps please login to the EWS page using the IP address which can be seen on the network test page and navigate to the instant ink and sync the printer to instant ink.

3. Once done please try printing a test diagnostic page through MacBook or iPad to check if the printer is printing.

Take care and have an amazing day!

I'm an HP Employee.
