no ppd

Currently Mac OS 10.13.6. I have had a ppd for this printer rarely appear in all Adobe CC 2018-2019 programs. But never stays. Now I have no ppd for the printer AT ALL even though I have installed, uninstalled, reinstalled and trashed printer and preference plists and restarted soooo many times. HP Easy Start does not install a ppd. I accidentally installed Mac OS Mojave and it wreaked such havoc I had to uninstall. Had same issues. At one point tonight, I actually had the ppd show up but a message appeared that it did not match selected printer even though both were the same. Then it totally disappeared when I verified selected printer. No ppd was available. Anyone have any ideas? Apple said it’s not their prob it’s printer manufacturer issue. I’m out of ideas.

I do not know who nor how but I received an email from HP Support Drivers that this printer, Color Lasetjet Pro M252dw, ONLY has a PPD for PC and NOT for Mac. Hmph!

It was sold to me as being compatible with a Mac and I have intermittenly seen the PPD being available in all of my Adobe programs but I never know how or why it is not consistent.

So per the email, I installed it onto a 64-bit PC running Windows 10, with the latest software and drivers.

And guess what?! THE EXACT SAME ISSUE!!! This must NOT be related to a Mac only IF the PC compatible laptop has the EXACT SAME ISSUE!!!

I did find out how to dig DEEP into my Mac and actually FOUND the PPD for this printer. And guess what?

It is a generic RGB PPD – hp color Lasetjet RGB v402 – NOT a TRUE Postscript Printer Driver as advertised in literature that was available when this printer came out. It is supposed to be a Postscript Level 3 laser CMYK printer and is to be the "SAME HAPPINESS conncected to a PC or Mac"  per the literature.

Now, if it is TRULY ONLY  a PC compatible laser printer, why is the EXACT same PPD the only one installed in Windows 10? It is a genric RGB PPD for this printer on a PC  – Default (sRGB) – and ONLY RGB is an option for color or color theme!!!

WHY HP?!?! WHY?!?!

Why are you updating with a genric RGB PPD for a CMYK Color Laser printer? If I can FIND the actual PPD  – HP Color Laserjet Pro M252 – for the printer deep in my Mac, then it should be COMPATIBLE!!!

Come on HP! FIX THIS!!!

Here is my proof in screenshot of the Mac (using Adobe Illustrator CC 2019) and a jpg of the PC using the exact same program on a PC with the same Illustrator file. And yes, I did try to change the printer info in the output settings on the PC but everything was greyed out. The jpg were the only options available on the "PC compatible only" color laserjet pro printer.

Now to whomever the person was from HP Support Drivers that emailed me saying this printer was NOT a Mac compatible printer, PLEASE explain how I was able to find the correct PPD but yet it is still only RGB?!

Is it that HP is updating with only an RGB PPD? If so, WHY?!?!?!?! This printer is so capable of doing what it is designed to do.
