Hi @Pothal

If you're receiving a "certificate expired" error when attempting to print from your MacBook to an HP LaserJet Pro MFP 4104dw, this may be due to an expired security certificate affecting network communications. Here are steps to resolve this issue:

  1. Verify and Update Certificate:

    • Access the printer's Embedded Web Server (EWS) using its IP address to check any expired certificates.
    • To update the certificate:
      1. Open the Embedded Web Server by typing the printer’s IP address into a web browser.
      2. Navigate to the "Network" tab.
      3. Under the "Security" section, go to "Certificates".
      4. Import a new CA certificate or renew the expired ones.
  2. Check Date and Time Settings:

    • Ensure that the date and time settings on your printer are correct.
    • Incorrect settings might cause certificates to appear expired.
  3. Driver and Firmware Update:

    • Check for any updates for the printer driver specific to macOS from the HP Software and Driver Downloads page.
    • Ensure that your printer firmware is up-to-date by visiting the printer settings in the EWS and checking for any available firmware updates.
  4. Secure Print Settings:

    • Consider easing some security settings temporarily on the printer if the expired certificate is preventing crucial operations. Be cautious when doing so and revert back once resolved.
    • Consult with your network admin if advanced network settings need to be handled.
  5. MacBook Settings:

    • Clear the print queue or restart your MacBook to rule out any stalled processes.
    • Restart your Wi-Fi connection on the MacBook to ensure it reconnects with updated network settings.
