Hello, we're facing a problem with scanning on the HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP 4303 [edited]5HH66A. When scanning from the glass to email and USB, only 10 pages are scanned consecutively and sent to email or saved to USB. When we scan 16 pages using the auto-feed function, they are scanned and sent to email. This model has a problem when scanning through the glass, as it only scans 10 pages and forcibly saves them to USB and sends them to email. How can I fix the settings to scan from the glass without limiting the number of pages?

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

1. Verify Device Memory and Buffer Settings

  • Check the printer’s available memory and buffer settings. Flatbed scans are more memory-intensive than ADF scans.
  • If possible, increase the printer’s memory  to handle larger flatbed scan jobs.

2. Adjust Scan Resolution and File Size

  • High-resolution scans consume more memory.
  • Try reducing the DPI/resolution (e.g., from 600 dpi to 300 dpi) for large batch scans.
  • Change the output format to a more memory-efficient one (e.g., PDF instead of TIFF) in the scan settings.

3. Update Firmware and Drivers

  • Check the HP Support site for the latest firmware version for the MFP 4303.
  • Update scanner drivers and software on the connected PC (HP Smart, HP Scan, or Windows/Mac drivers).
  • Sometimes the flatbed scan limitation is a software-enforced restriction fixed in firmware updates.

4. Reset or Reconfigure Scan Settings

  • Access the printer’s Embedded Web Server (EWS) by entering the printer’s IP in a browser.
  • Review Scan-to-Email and Scan-to-USB settings to see if any page limit is configured.
  • Reset the scan settings to default and test scanning multiple pages.

5. Test Scan via Alternate Methods

  • Scan to a network folder or directly to PC instead of email/USB to see if the 10-page limitation persists.
  • If scanning directly to PC removes the limitation, the issue may be with the email or USB workflow settings.

6. Use HP Scan/Smart Software Advanced Settings

  • Open HP Smart or HP Scan software.
  • Look for advanced options such as “Scan Entire Glass” or “Combine into single PDF” that might bypass page limits.
  • Experiment with disabling “Automatically split large scans” if available.

7. Check for Job-Splitting or Timeout Issues

  • Some printers automatically split large flatbed scans due to processing timeouts.
  • Try scanning smaller batches with short pauses between scans to see if the limit changes.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

We carried out the work according to your instructions

1. Performed, saves 10 pages automatically

2. Performed, saves automatically 10 pages of TIFF

3. Executed, saves 10 pages automatically

4. Executed, saves 10 pages automatically

5. Executed, saves 10 pages automatically

6. Performed, scanned 12 pages from the glass via HP smart, the printer transfers the scanned file to the program and saves the document manually

7. Performed, small volume scanning works correctly, you start scanning over 10 pages, saves 10 pages automatically.
