Laserjet pro M1536dnf
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

On my printer, I set my date & time to current in both the System settings and the fax settings. I always turnoff my printer when not in use.  However, when I turn the printer on, I notice  the date & time keeps reverting to default settings. I have tried a few time to change the settings, but everytime I turn the printer off and then on, the date & time changes to the defaut settings.

Why is this happening? Hopefully, I do not have keep the printer turned on to keep my settings!

Hi! @RicharddR, Thanks for stopping by the HP Support Forums!

I understand you would like to set the same time and date for System settings and the fax settings on your printer.

Don't worry I'd like to help you out.

Did you make any changes to your printer?

Please provide the printer model name to assist you better.

As you mentioned you would like to set the same time and date for System settings and the fax settings on your printer.

Try the steps recommended below.

Write down the IP address of the printer
Type the IP of the printer into the address bar of your preferred browser (IE, Chrome, Firefox, etc)
Press Enter to access the EWS (embedded web server) for the printer
Select the Settings tab at the top
Click the checkbox at the bottom for "Use the same time zone set on this computer" and click Apply

HP Embedded Web Server, selected "settings", next "preferences", next "date & time", next checked the box " Sync with this computer's date and time settings".

Scan to email send time should now match laptop's real time.

about a month and 1/2 ago, I had to 're-install'  the HP LaserJet M1536 Full Feature Software and Driver

> Write down the IP address of the printer

I am computer newbie, but for a printer to have a IP address, doesn't mean the printer is configured 'wireless'. My printer is connnected to my computer via usb.

To MrRobot: Thank you for your assistance and in getting HP Technical support to contact me. Unfortunately, HP Technical support cannot help me due to the age of my printer. So it is 5 years past Warranty. Their advisement to me, is either to live with the date and time problem on my existing printer -or-  buy a brand new printer.
