Thank you for posting on HP Forums,
Riddle_Decipher is at your service.
As I Understand the printer is making a grinding noise when printing,
Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, however, to provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:
Did you attempt to calibrate the cartridges?
While you respond to that, here's what you need to know:
Noise issues are difficult to troubleshoot remotely and they could easily misguide even when we are close to the device.
Please do confirm if the noise is a grinding noise or squeaky/humming noise.
If this happens only while calibrating, I would suggest you re-check & validate your toner cartridges.
One of the toner cartridges may be malfunctioning.
If not the toner cartridge, then it would be one of the printer hardware component causing the failure And an HP Tech may need to perform a physical inspection of the device and the error condition, I recommend you Contact HP to setup a repair/replacement service.
Keep me posted,
If the information I've provided was helpful,
Give us some reinforcement by clicking the solution and kudos buttons,
That'll help us and others see that we've got the answers!
Good Luck.

Hi,
Thank you for your responce. It is a harsh grinding noise- not squeaky. I have tried to calibrate and followed the instructions on how to do so online but unfortunately can't find where to do this. When the printer is turned on it makes this sound and also whilst printing. The toner we have in at the moment is a different brand - called 5 star office- do you think this could be the issue?
Look forward to hearing from you,
Rebekah

Thank you for replying with this detailed response 😉
I appreciate your time and efforts,
Absolutely, the toner seems to be the issue as HP only recommends using genuine HP Ink cartridges,
if other brands are used it may potentially harm the printer,
That said, I recommend you get yourself genuine HP cartridges and rerun the setup, however, if the issue persists, you may want to Contact HP and have the printer repaired/replaced as this could be a hardware malfunction:
