Windows 10 may be balking at installing the printer software.

Your printer software is fairly new - the following may -- or may not -- apply to your situation.

The "try and see" takes only several minutes to test.

Read through the procedure then decide how (and whether) to proceed.

Consider...

Printer Software cannot install – Compatibility Mode

Preparation

Completely uninstall the printer software

Control Panel > icon view > Programs and Features

Restart the computer and log in.

Check Devices and Printers –

If you see the printer, Right-Click on it and Uninstall / Remove device

Open the Device Manager

     View > Devices by type

     Expand the Printers section

If you see the printer, Right-Click on it and Uninstall / Remove

If you remove the device from Devices and Printers or the Device Manager,

Restart the computer and log in.

Download and Save the Full Feature Software to your computer.

Do not "run" the installation yet...

"Troubleshooting method" using the built-in tool for the job - Set Compatibility

Hover over the Windows Start pane on your Taskbar > Right-Click and select Search

In the search bar, type:  run programs

Click on Run programs made for previous versions of Windows

Start the Troubleshooter...

Select "Not listed"

Browse to the downloaded folder / file and select it in the Troubleshooter:  EN5530_198.exe

Follow prompts - for example, select to have the troubleshooter implement "fixes".

In this case, the "fix" suggested is to run the program in "Compatibility mode for Windows 7"

Click "Test the program" (still in the Troubleshooter)

The Hoped-for result:  Installation file opens, extracts, and magically, quick-as-a-rabbit, installs the software.

Restart the computer and log in.

Click Cancel in the Troubleshooter to close it.

OR

Manual method - Set Compatibility

Download and Save the Full Feature Software to your computer

Navigate to your Downloads folder and open the folder so you can view the contents

Right-Click on the downloaded installation file > Properties > Compatibility

Check "Run this program in compatibility mode for"

Select Windows 7

Click Apply and OK to close the Properties menu

Right-Click on the program and select to Run as Administrator

After the software installs, Restart the computer and log in.

Hi Dragon-Fur,

Running in compatibilty mode did the trick, although the setting up of the wireless connection was a of the trial to say the least.

I now have the latest dialog box and all the printer management stuff is available albeit through a shortcut to the control panel printer settings.

Many thanks for your assistance

Tim

You are welcome.  I am glad it worked.

The following may help you with a couple of ideas to add / create custom shortcuts to the Desktop.

The first one (Printer Assistant) is not necessary if the shortcut was created during the installation (as it should have done).
