when asked for a print job, the unit makes a strong rattling noise and does not print. Saw a video on ùyou tube pointing to a defective sprocket, part number unavailable. Just wondering if any here had this problem. Thank you

Hello and thanks for coming back
the machine is a HP Laser P2015d, model no. CB367A serial CNBJC19961 that I acquired from the previous owner when I moved in. It worked ok for some 15 years and all of a sudden came this rattling noise, it refuses to work now. I just wish it to return to normal but I fear a gear would have to be replaced... but I have no parts diagram...
hopefully this will reach you

Hi, yes this issue is quite common on some HP printers. A loud rattling noise with no printing usually means something in the paper feed or gear system is stuck or worn out, often the sprocket or pickup gear. You can try opening the printer and checking for jammed paper bits or loose parts. If the gear is damaged, it may need replacement or professional repair.
