Hello.
My printer is HP LaserJet 400 colorMFP M475dw, ip address 192.168.0.4
I try to scan to network folder on my computer(windows 7 64-bit) , ip address 192.168.0.253
I use web interface, i click on menu Scan, then New
Display Name: \\192.168.0.253\new
Network path: \\192.168.0.253\new
username: user1 (admin rights)
pass: user1
then i click Save and Test, i get an error "The test was unsuccessful. Try again."
Folder is shared with read\write access for everyone
From other computer in my network i can go into this folder with full access, read write files
Printer's Firmware datecode: 20120123
Is this the newest firmware for this printer?

Hi,
It is not the latest firmware, the latest version (20150126) can be downloaded from teh following link:
Is your windows user account have the same password as the user name or may it is not pasword protected at all? (just to ensure as a such may require some additional sharing options)
Please also try going to the Shared folder, right click it and select Properties.
Open the Sharing tab and click the Share button, ensure both the user and everyone have Read & Write control and press OK.
Press on Advanced Sharing and ensure it is set as shared within there too, then click on Permissions and ensure that both the User and Everyone have full control.
Confirm the changes and return to the shared folder Properties.
Open the Security tab and ensure that both your user and Everyone have write control within that tab as well, then close the dialog by pressing OK.
May you see any difference once ensuring any of these settings?
Click the Yes button to reply that the response was helpful or to say thanks.

Hello @volovichp ,
I am sorry to hear you were not able to resolve the scan to network folder problem.
It will help clarifying the information required above, Is your windows user account have the same password as the user name or may it is not pasword protected at all? (just to ensure as a such may require some additional sharing options)?
From the Control Panel go to Network and Sharing Center, can you see the network marked as Home or Woirk network or maybe a public network?
By selecting Change advanced sharing options, is File and Printer sharing enabled?
Click the Yes button to reply that the response was helpful or to say thanks.

Hello @7640chit,
Thanks for reaching out!
I see that you are facing issues while trying to scan to the network folder. Appreciate all your efforts so far. I have seen at times that the issue is fixed by assigning a manual google DNS address for the printer. Follow the steps below:
- Obtain the IP address of the printer – You can touch the “wireless” icon on the printer control panel to obtain the IP address.
- Type the IP address on your web browser to obtain the printer EWS page on your computer.
- Go to the “Network” tab – Click on “Wireless (802.11) – Then click on “Network address (IPv4)
- Click on the radio button which says “Manual IP” and then click “Suggest a manual IP address” to give a manual IP address to your printer.
- Click on radio button which says “Manual DNS Server” and under manual preferred type 8.8.8.8 and under manual alternate type 8.8.4.4 (This is Google DNS server address)
Alternatively, check this YouTube video for clear instructions on setting up your printer for scan to network folder: http://hp.care/2dzoNvJ
Please let me know if this resolves the issue, or if you require further assistance.
Cheers 🙂

My printer is a
HP Color LaserJet MFP M277dw
I set the manual IP address but I could not find where to set the DNS Server
I applied the settings you suggested and much to my surprise this worked!
My scanner stopped scanning from the Display Panel several months ago. I tried running the HPPSdr program, including the updated version. The problem wasn't scanning specifically, since I could use the client: HP CLJM277Scan from my computer. So the Dr wasn't helping.
Your suggestion was the only one that worked! I've only scanned one item succesfully as of this morning, but I will do more, restart the printer, etc. and get back with you.
Thank you so much. I have sent several emails to HP to no avail on this topic.
