I am having difficulty setting up a network folder to scan to...can you send the steps especially as they ask to log in with the user name and password is this the computer display name? and password for the lock screen?

The user name and password that you need to enter in the setup fields for scan to folder would be the user name and password that you log in to windows with. If this is a home network without a domain (if you don't know you probably don't have it) then in the box that asks for domain you need to put in the name of your computer.
