I bought this printer for my home use, I dont print much (the half toner supplied is still half full after 3 years)

Since day 1 the image quality is ugly

when you print text - no problem

when images are printed - the images are like 80% darker

10% black = 60% black

30% black = 80% black

I am trying to see if there is a setup on the printer web page but it wants username and password which I dont have

Help????

Thank you for joining the HP Support Community

Let's try resolving the print quality issue in the first place then we move on the EWS page user name and password.

I suggest you do a Hard Reset on the printer.

(1) Turn the printer on, if it is not already on.

(2) Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you continue.

(3) With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.

(4) Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.

(5) Wait at least 60 seconds.

(6) Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.

NOTE: HP recommends connecting the printer power cord directly to the wall outlet.

(7) Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.

(8) Turn on the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.

The printer might go through a warm-up period. The printer lights might flash, and the carriage might move.

Wait until the warm-up period finishes and your printer is idle and silent before you proceed.

Then click on this document: https://support.hp.com/us-en/product/hp-color-laserjet-pro-m252-series/7089938/model/7089942/documen... and follow the solutions.

Keep me posted, how it goes!

Have a great day!

Cheers:)
