Hi @chameleon57,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

The key code your iPhone is requesting depends on how you are connecting to the printer.

If you are connecting to a Wi‑Fi Direct network (for example, a network named "DIRECT-xx-HP"), the code is the printer's Wi‑Fi Direct password. You can usually find it by printing a Network Configuration or Wi‑Fi Direct Information page from the printer's control panel. The page will list the current Wi‑Fi Direct name and password.

If you are using the HP app, it may ask for a printer PIN during setup. Depending on the printer model, this PIN may be located on a label on the printer, inside the toner-cartridge access area, on the rear of the printer, or displayed on the printer's control panel during setup. Since the printer was purchased used, the previous owner may have changed the default settings. Printing the printer's configuration or wireless information page is usually the quickest way to determine the current password or PIN.

If you can provide the exact HP LaserJet model number, I'd be happy to give model-specific instructions for locating the code.

Take care and have a great day.

I'm an HP Employee.
