I changed back to the old cartriges and the printer acts the same.I do not remember the printer making this noise before but it looks like will just have to live with it.The output of the printer is great.

@dicko1,

Welcome to the HP Forums!

Thank you for posting your query on this forum, it's a great place to find answers.

I reviewed your post and I understand that the printer is making a loud noise when you restart it.

Don’t worry, I assure you I will try my best to get this sorted.

In order that I may provide you with an accurate solution, I will need a few more details.

  • When was the last time the printer was working fine?
  • Have you made any software or hardware changes on the computer?
  • Have you performed any troubleshooting steps before posting?

While you respond to that, I would like to inform you that the printer performs maintenance every time to start or shut down the printer which causes loud noise. However, I recommend you update the printer firmware and check whether the issue is resolved.

Follow the steps in the below article to update the printer firmware.

Let me know how it goes and you have a great day!

1 before changing cartridges 12/20/2018

2 No software changes

3 ran trouble shooting from windows

I think I did not mention that clunk noise happens also when starting print job. I think it is related to one cartrige only.I will install old cartriges and see if that stops it.Other than that the printer works and prints great.

@dicko1,

It is great to have you back and your patience is greatly appreciated.

That is a fantastic alternative and we can determine whether the issue is caused by the new cartridge.

Please post your results, as I will be looking forward to hearing from you.

Good day!

So what is the resolution here?  I just changed all cartridges and now my printer makes a noise when starting to print... Prints fine but sounds like something is going to break... Please advise
