Hi Everyone,

We've had this hp printer for 2 years & we've always printed wirelessly from our macbook pros with no problem. Suddenly, the wireless icon went missing from the screen on the printer, so I can't figure out how to connect it to the wifi in our home.

Attached picture shows where the icon used to be.

Thanks in advance!

-Renee

Any ideas about how to get the icon back!? IMG_0104.JPG

@rc1031,

Welcome to HP Forums,

This is a great place to get support, find answers and tips,

Thank you for posting your query, I'll be more than glad to help you out 🙂

I understand that you are facing issue with the wireless.

Don't worry I'll be glad to help, however, to provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:

Are you facing this issue after an update?

I suggest you do a Hard Reset

(1) Turn the printer on, if it is not already on.

(2) Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you continue.

(3) With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.

(4) Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.

(5) Wait at least 60 seconds.

(6) Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.

NOTE: HP recommends connecting the printer power cord directly to the wall outlet.

(7) Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.

(8) Turn on the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.

The printer might go through a warm-up period. The printer lights might flash, and the carriage might move.

Wait until the warm-up period finishes and your printer is idle and silent before you proceed.

Then click here and update the latest firmware if available.

Do get back to me as I have a few more tricks up my sleeve. Said that, if I have helped you resolve the issue.

This didn’t work for me. There is no wireless icon. I’ve reset defaults multiple times, powered off and waited, unplugged and waited, and waited. Still no WiFi icon. I was printing wirelessly to this printer for a long time. I move to another room (where the router happens to reside) so I figure I’ll just use an Ethernet cable instead of wireless. Ever since then the wireless option is gone. Makes no freaking sense! Please help HP.

Connect with the network cable and then use the web interface to acces the printer and check all the settings.Simply enter the ip address in your browser and it should give you access to the printer.Hope this will help.

I connected the printer via Ethernet cable (CAT6) and the printer is assigned 192.168.1.19 Address. I browsed (via chrome/safari) to the web interface. This still doesn’t give me any option to configure the printer WIRELESSLY. I purchased this printer because it has wireless capability. It was working before and now it doesn’t. The icon on the control panel is missing. Just to reiterate, the printer works great connected via Ethernet cable. I want to print Wirelessly.

Hi I would like to assist to the best of my ability to solve your problem.I hope the information i supply will be of help.

Don't know if this might give you a idea to change the settings to wireless.

Use the HP Reconfiguration Utility to change the
product connection
If you are already using the product and you wish to change the way it is connected, use the
HP Reconfiguration Utility to set up the connection. For example, you can reconfigure the product to use
a different wireless address, to connect to a wired or wireless network, or change from a network
connection to a USB connection. You can change the configuration without inserting the product CD.
After you select the type of connection you wish to make, the program goes directly to the portion of
the product setup procedure that needs to change.
The HP Reconfiguration Utility is located in the HP programs group on your computer.
I don't know MAC operating systems but hope this might help.
