Thank you, Steffen. 

 

I think I will set up a fresh X50 and hold it at 3.14 using the custom URL, then use it to update every new TC8 I have to 3.14. That should solve my issue. Laborious, yes, but better than bricking TC8s and having to RMA them. Just so everyone knows, HP Support has been great with RMAs during this process. I recommend the chat function.
