Our VSX 5000 microphone is inoperable.  The red light in the center of the mic no longer illuminates.  This happened after we tried to fabricate an extension cable to extend the microphone further than the stock cable length.  We used the same connectors and fabricated the new cable such that it was pin-to-pin equivalent of the stock cable.  Is there an internal fuse which provides power to the microphone which possibly is blown?

What is the length of the new cable. It most likely will not work with anything over 50ft. Do you have another 50ft or 30ft clink mic cable to test the issue?
