vsx7000e factory reset

Hi,

I have a vsx7000e that I need to restore to factory settings. I do not have access to the unit using the admin account as the last integrator failed to tell anyone what the admin password was and now it is my job to get it working again.

Is there a hardware factory restore method that can be done to the vsx7000e so I can reconfigure it?

Description

There is no quick way of bypassing the Administrator password, if it is lost and needs to be reset. The user needs to go into the boot ui and reload software.

Resolution

Turn the unit off Hold down the 0 key on the remote and boot the system. (this places the unit into a boot ui state) Load new software to this unit You will probably be prompted for your license key, depending on what version you try to install. If you do not have this any longer but have paid for the software, you can get one generated from the software downloads site. The first screen of the install, states password. Leave this field empty and just hit the key to go on.

Thanks for your reply. I have searched the knowledgebase and the documentation but unfortunately I do not have the remote for this unit. I am trying to source one from somewhere but am having difficulties. There is an ON/OFF and a RESET switch on the main board, is there a specific combination (like hold reset while turning on then hold for 15 secs) that I can use to factory reset?

Would this work on the whole VSX series?  I have a VSX-8000 (128) S/W ver 8.7 and am in the same situation, where the person that did this left without a passdown of the previous password.

Yes, this can be applied to the entire VSX and V series.
