HP ENVY X2 PC
Microsoft Windows 8 (32-bit)

Hello,

I have HP ENVY X2 PC, with BIOS version F.06, and Windows 8 enterprise.

I would like to give my notebook to my friend, but first I need to erase my private settings and data. I thought the esyest way is to go to PC settings/ General/ Remove everything and reinstall Windows, but that option does not working (nothing happend when I pressed Get started). Then I thought to install new clean version of windows but in bios I do not see Legacy setiings option? Could you please help me, how can I activate Legacy option in Bios, or activate Remove everything and reinstall Windows option?

Regards,

That can also be done in Windows.

Click on the Windows icon and then all applications.

Look for the Hp section and then HP Recovery Manager.

If you never created recovery media before, you should also see HP recovery media creator as well.

Now would be a perfect time to create the usb recovery media.

Start the media creation utility. It will tell you how much storage capacity the usb flashdrive must have.

After you have created the recovery media:

Boot to the usb flash drive and in the available options choose factory image recovery.

That will delete everything and then reinstall the delivered operating system.

OK.

Then you or someone who use the notebook has perhaps inadvertently deleted the partition. That was a bit of a mistake. Is the notebook stil in warranty?

HP Recovery Manager for HP ENVY X2 is not a downloadable product.  It is not available in Windows Enterprise versions.

You can order it from HP. Use the following URL.

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/clc?tmp_showAll=false&'destPage=document&cc=us&dlc=en&docname=bph...

If you want to perform a clean install you will have to make sure that Legacy support is enabled and secure boot disabled.  Select the boot order in UEFI or Legacy, depending on the format of the type of installation media you are using.

No my HP is not in warranty.

Is that mean I can not use HP Recovery Manager?

Do you have any other proposition, how could I reset my HP to factory settings?

Did you see the image at the bottom of my previous post of the BIOS setting?

You can still purchase recovery media from HP even though the notebook is not in warranty.

This will depend on whether or not someone removed the recovery partition or made changes in the partition.

Connect the power adapter.

Press the power button and immediately begin tapping the F11 key.

If the partition is there and has not been disturbed, the HP Recovery Manager should appear. You will see the options to perform a factory image recovery there.

Thank you! Yes, I have HP Recovery Manager!!!

What now?

Options:

1.Microsoft System Restore (Restore your system to an earlier date)

2.Minimized Image Recovery (Restore operation system, drivers and select sofrware only (clean image) )

3.Run Computer Checkup

4.Show contact information

5.File Backup

I suppose, I should run number 2. ?

There should be more available options than what you listed, although #2 sounds like it will deliver what you need.

The following is what my Product loaner Omen 15 has available in the Recovery Manager. It is a 2015 model. Yours may differ somewhat.
