Omen 17 w053dx
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)
Bought this mainly for internet usage but have not been able to use it all for that purpose. Took me days and several attempts to get the initial update downloaded and installed due to poor signal. Despite whether the signal is weak or strong the speed jumps constantly from 1 to 12 to 5 to 24 and back to 1 and anywhere in between but mostly sits below 10. I have a ten yr old HP laptop with a much slower processor that has no issues with the wifi and the internet works perfectly in the exact same room anywhere in my house, whereas the Omen is running slower than a snail. Thought I wouldnt have any issues with a gaming laptop which is why I bought it. I've read complaints about issues with the wifi on the Omen laptops which is disappointing. Its pretty much useless if the wifi doesn't work because I only have internet access through wifi. Is there a way I can fix this myself?

Hi @theseRmy407s,

As I understand you are having connectivity issues on your HP Omen laptop. Don't worry as I have a few suggestions which should help you resolve your concern,

To provide you with an accurate solution, I'll need a few more details:

Have you made any software or hardware changes made on the PC?

Did you contact your ISP and check the upload and download speed?

In the meantime, let's try these steps here:

Open CMD as Admin:  Copy the following commands, and press enter after each one.

-

netsh int tcp set heuristics disabled
netsh int tcp set global autotuninglevel=disabled
netsh int tcp set global rss=enabled

netsh int tcp show global  (Check if All settings have taken effect)

Reboot the PC and check if it works

STEP# 6 of Wireless Troubleshooting: Screenshots of how the commands should show and be entered - Click here

Next thing, I would suggest here is to Uninstall the Wi-Fi drivers from Device manager and then install it from our HP Support website.

Also update the Bios and chipset drivers from our support website using this link.

Please respond to this post with the result of your troubleshooting. I look forward to hearing from you.
