So I just got the new HP Omen 15 for christmas and may I say this has to be the worst **bleep**ing laptop I have EVER had to deal with! I see on the forums that it works fine for others so maybe mine is just defective but I took it out of the box, installed one of my steam games (PayDay 2) to test it out and it wouldn't even launch the game! Then after about 1 minute, the computer bluescreens and I get the error Driver_Power_State_Failure. I went to HP recovery manager and reinstalled my graphics drivers and that seemed to fix the problem (But only temporarily!). A few days later (no changes have been made to the computer since then), I open PayDay 2 and the performance is AWFUL! The mouse and graphics are totally out of whack, there is extreme delay and it looks like the game is running at about 15 frames per second. After closing the game and trying to re-open it, the computer locks up and does nothing then blue screens again with the same Driver_Power_State_Failure error. I have looked on the forums on how to fix this and nothing seems to work. I've updated every driver on the computer and they are all "up to date" but apparently there is something still wrong with this computer. I bought a $1500 GAMING LAPTOP that cannot even open the games I want to play without this error occuring!
The only success I've had in fixing this is restoring my computer to the day I reinstalled my graphics drivers but then I am forced to reinstall all of my games! I will literally do nothing to change the laptops settings and the next day the games will not work, I don't get it...
SOMEONE PLEASE HELP!!!

Hi @Trevor_Dunbar ,
Welcome to the HP Forums!
It is a grand place to find answers and ideas!
For you to have the best experience in the HP forum I would like to direct your attention to the HP Forums Guide Learn How to Post and More
I grasp that you have installed PayDay2 and it would not launch. You updated the drivers but no change. You did a recovery back to factory and it played OK until you tried to restart it the next day.
Have you updated your Java?
Is PayDay 2 compatible with Windows 8.1? Here is a link to Can I RUN it. to help determine what needs to be done.
When I tried to search PayDay 2 there was more then one version ( Hotline Miami, Big Bank Heist and The Diamond Heist)
Have you tried Using automated troubleshooting (Windows 😎?
Have you ran the HP Support Assistant to aid with driver updates and resolving issues?
As you did not state your exact model of Omen when I checked one at random I noticed there is a bios update for it. Have you checked to see if there is one for your model. If so I suggest contacting HP support for assistance with that process as it does have the potential to cause damage and it is a brand new computer. Here is a link to the
Drivers & Downloads page, you will need to input the exact model and follow the prompts to display the software and drivers for your notebook.
How Do I Find My Model Number or Product Number?
If the bios update is required I recommend contacting HP support for assistance. They can remotely access your system to find and fix issues.
Please call our technical support at 800 474 6836. If you live outside the US/Canada Region, please click the link below to get a support number for your region.
Good Luck!

Hi @eweb101
I have brought your issue to the attention of an appropriate team within HP. They will likely request information from you in order to look up your case details or product serial number. Please look for a private message from an identified HP contact. Additionally, keep in mind not to publicly post serial numbers and case details.
If you are unfamiliar with how the Forum's private message capability works, this post has instructions.

Hello,
Can you describe more when the issue begins? Is it after installing a newer graphics driver from HP Support Assistant or from Geforce Experience?
What games are you installing on the notebook?
That bluescreen error is a little generic when it comes to root cause. Can you get a screenshot of it an post on the thread if possible?
Make it easier for others to find solutions, by marking my answer “Accept as Solution” if it solves your problem.

I have had my Omen for about a week now, and had this same issue (I think 3 times now). Another issue I have had is with the illuminated keyboard not registering correctly. Sometimes when waking the device from sleep, the keys don't illuminate, even when trying func+f5, and I have to restart the machine (thankfully this only takes a few seconds to do) and it resolves the issue. I have and continue to debate returning the machine. . Mainly because I want something with a 9xx series video card, but these little issues are helping to convince me to pull the trigger and order something else, which is a shame because it IS a BEAUTIFUL machine, and capable in its' own right. . I just wish they would have gone with a slightly new video card. . I'm also afraid that a v2 will be released sometime this year, featuring a 9xx gtx video card, and i'll be quite p*ssed owning one equiped with the 860m. Is there any talk or info regarding the possibility of releasing another version with say, a gtx 960m once released or even the 970m? I really like my Omen, but these issues have made me think about going another direction. .:smileysad:

I also have this "SAME EXACT PROBLEM" and its freaking annoying! I even re-installed the Factory OS and sometimes "NOT ALWAYS" it will throw up that BSOD! HP FIX THIS!
0x0000009F - BSOD Driver Power State Failure, ntoskrnl.exe.
I only play 2 games on my laptop as for now, Wizard101 and Dragon Age Inquisition. However, the last time I got the BSOD I was not playing any games at all. Just browsing the web, unplugged my laptop and after 1-2 minutes later I went into Ebay and BSOD grrrr!
IT APPEARS TO BE RELATED TO THE NVIDIA CARD! I DO HAVE BIOS F.08 -

The only games I play on mine is Wizard101 and Dragon Age Inquisition. The last time I got the BSOD was actually when I was doing nothing more than surfing the web! I unlpugged my laptop, and about 2-3minutes later I went on Ebay and BSOD! grrr
