OMEN 870-100NP
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi there i got myself a 870-100np, im not at home atm so im not sure if i got a 300w power or 500, it seems it can be one of those 2, i got a i5-6400 But i want to upgrade for a i7-6700k due some lack of fps in some games, altho i assume the Chipset suports it, but if its a 300w power suplly i will have to get a better one right? and any other powersuplly  fit on those HP omen desktops?

Hi javarder

I can't find 870-100np.

So I can't see if the MB will support an i7-6700k.

I don't know your current graphics card. I don't know what chipset you have.

You need to provide more information.

Tks for reply, ye it seems its a portuguese model, chipset is intel h170, gfx is 1060 3gb, and got a 300w power suply, far as i figured, i can upgrade to 6700k but i wont be able to overclock it, and need to swap to a better power supply, am i right?

Hi

Thanks for the reply.

The H170 chipset is not able to overclock. The i7 6700k is better than your current processor.

In general, HP systems don't provide BIOS overclocking options.

Again, I can't check specs. Some HP motherboards don't support all CPU upgrade options. You have to check the processor TDP. I think the i7 6700k is 95 watts.

The power supply has no bearing unless you are going to upgrade the graphics card. Nvidia 1070 and 1080 cards require 400 watt or higher power supplies.

Hi

Okay, looked at the specs.

I see 6700k support only with Ariia.

I don't know what that means. I don't know if the Odense 2-S meets this condition??

Only HP can answer this question.

Hi

Check out this site.

It will look at your system and identify any bottlenecks when running games.

Your processor may not be the problem
