HP Tango
Android 9.0 Pie

I am trying to print from my Android Galaxy 21. It has the most recent OS.  The HP app sees the Tango printer and shows me all the info about ink and such. But when I try to print, I get a message from the app that says "use the HP Service Plugin?"  but there's not button to push to say yes or no... it simply is shows that message and won't print.  Any ideas how to manage this?

In the same message, It also says, "Your document may pass through 1 or more servers on its way to the printer."  but that too is not something I can respond to.

Thank you for posting on the HP Support Community.

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, to provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:

While you respond to that, let's try these steps:

Install the HP Print Service Plugin on your Android smartphone or tablet, and then turn on the plugin.

  1. Confirm your Android device is connected to the same network as your printer.

  2. On your Android device, install or update the HP Print Service Plugin (in English).
Once done the plugin turns on automatically after installation.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.

Hello,

My printer is Tango 2RY54A

I have installed the HP Service Plugin app and using the same wifi account as the printer.

Looking forward to hearing back.

  • Are you getting the same error message?
  • Could you please share the picture of the error message?

With WiFi Direct, you can connect your device to your printer using a printer-based wireless connection. Here’s how to use it:

1. Download the HP Print Service Plugin from the Google Play Store and install it on your device.

2. Get the WiFi Direct printer name. Every HP printer with WiFi Direct has a unique name and password. You’ll need them to connect your device.

For printers with a control panel display:

  • Touch the WiFi Direct icon or open the WiFi Direct settings menu to get the name and password
  • Go to the Reports menu and select Network Summary or Network config to print a network summary page with the name and password

For printers with buttons only, use whichever method matches your printer configuration:

  • Press the Information button to print the report
  • Press and hold the WiFi Direct button for 3 seconds to print the report
  • Press the Wireless and Information buttons at the same time to print the report
  • Press and hold the Resume/Cancel or Resume button for 2-3 seconds to print the information page
  • Press and hold the Resume/Cancel or Resume button for 10 seconds to print the information page

3. Use the apps to print

  • Open the item you want to print and tap the menu icon.
  • Then tap Print

4. Select your printer

  • On the print preview screen, tap the Down Arrow to view the printer list
  • Select your WiFi Direct printer and enter the password to connect your device
  • Go to your printer to confirm the selection

For printers with a control panel display:

  • Tap OK

For printers with buttons only:

  • Press the WiFi Direct or Information button, depending on which button blinks

5. Wait for connection and print

  • Wait between 5 and 10 seconds for the connection to complete
  • Once the connection is completed, the print preview screen will be displayed on your device
  • Tap Print to print

And, also refer to the article: HP printer setup (Android)
