@skyblues1

The following is  relevant to the HP Smart app.

Print and Scan from the HP Smart App (Android, Apple)

I have only a modicum of experience printing from my iPad (and my phone is a dinosaur).

One thing I have discovered by poking about with a couple of plain, old, document files (at least one of which is plain text), is that there is only so much that can be done with the printer application.  There are a couple of options, including "fit" and perhaps "actual size".   If the original document content is not in a useful, printable, reasonable size (for example), the print application cannot "see" that there is anything wrong and just prints what it gets (tiny-fonted document in micro-size).  (No emails, please, I know "tiny-fonted" is not a real thing.)

The only thing I have found that works consistently is to open the document (to be printed) on the iPad using whatever software is appropriate for the document (open file / document in Pages, for example), then edit the content of the document by changing the font / font size).

Once the document is formatted / edited for the content (fonts / font size), the printing application works as one would expect:  The document prints on the page and the content on that page is "right sized" (not so tiny or so large).

Tedious?  Well, yes.  The extra work does result in a decent printed page.

Does that help your situation?  Not sure that it will; the explanation does give you someplace to check / look for the way the content is printing.
