My new HP Deskjet Plus 4155 printer is supposed to be mobile printing capable through Wi-Fi but won't connect. The Wi-Fi button on the "control panel" just blinks. I tried using HP Smart as recommended but that didn't work. Under "network information" it shows the wireless to be on but not connected. following is the "Network Summary" from HP Smart:
Status: Not connected
Host Name: HPDC762C
Network Address (IP):
Hardware (MAC) Address: 3822E2DC762C
Network Name (SSID)
Wi-Fi Direct Name: HP=Setup<2C_DeskJet Plus 4100
Network Problem
Click "Troubleshoot" to diagnose the problem, or click "Close" and fix the problem later.
Status: On
With Wi-Fi Direct, you can print from a mobile device (such as a smartphone or notebook computer) directly to the printer without connecting to a wireless network.
The printer is currently busy running a wireless setup process using Wi-Fi Direct, so Wi-Fi Direct settings are not available at this time. Wait for up to 2 hours, and then refresh the browser window.
The Wi-Fi Direct has been running for 24 hours and has yet to connect.
Any help would be appreciated.

Hi,
Press and hold both the cancel and wireless button for 3 seconds until the Power light starts blinking, when it turns on and the wireless light blinks, it indicates the printer is in setup mode.
Next, follow 'Connect a printer that does not have a touchscreen control panel >> Step 2: Connect the printer with the HP Smart app':
https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/ish_1736500-1626554-16
If you are prompt for any PIN code, open the cartridge access door and locate the PIN listed on the label.
Also, you will be guided to press the Information button on the printer during the process, to confirm the device connection physically.
Please let me know if that helps,
Shlomi

Shlomil,
I have the same issue as the OP. Your instructions seem related to the Edge printer. I'd like to know how to resolve this issue for a Deskjet 4155, which does not have a touchscreen panel. It does have a wifi button on the FRONT of the printer, but without a connection to the printer via the app, it doesn't seem possible to troubleshoot the wifi connection.

Hi @N207,
My instructions are for the Deskjet 4155 printer discussed, which has no touch screen indeed.
Follow 'Connect a printer that does not have a touchscreen control panel >> Step 2: Connect the printer with the HP Smart app':
https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/ish_1736500-1626554-16
Once selecting the specific section, follow the steps to reset the wireless settings for the printer and then follow the steps using the HP Smart app, the first section is intended for your printer model:
-
For most HP printers: Press and hold the Wireless and Cancel buttons until the Wireless and Power lights blink.

Ooops, you’re absolutely correct, I confused the printer model indeed, sorry for any inconvenience.
You should hold the wireless and cancel buttons for 3 seconds, the post has been edited accordingly.
Once again, apologies for the confusion.

I have followed the instructions as listed above via my android phone and it completes saying that setup is complete. It then asks to print a page which I say yes to. Then it spins for a while and says Printer Problem - Unable to communicate with the printer.
I am connected to a public wifi, could this be the problem?
