How do I scan images and send them to my phone

HP Recommended
HP envy 4524

Hi, I have an envy 4524 printer and I never used it's scanner (except for scanning the setup page that the printer prints when you insert a new toner) . I want to scan images and send them to my phone, I downloaded the hp app, and it wants me to connect to the printer via WiFi, I do it but then it says there's no internet connection, that's probably because the only way the printer uses internet is through my phone's hotspot, but when I turn the wifi on the hotspot automatically switches off.  Could someone tell me how do I scan images and send them to my phone?  Thanks!

Hi @Bmcbmu,

I'd like to help!

You can connect to the printer via Wi-Fi direct and scan to your phone using the HP Smart app.

Install HP Smart app on your phone, refer to - Install and Use the HP Smart App (Android, Apple iOS, iPadOS)

To connect via Wi-Fi direct -

  1. Turn on the printer and make sure ink cartridges are installed and paper is loaded in the tray.

  2. Get the Wi-Fi Direct printer name (Example: DIRECT-72-HP Officejet Pro 6970) and password.

Printers with a control panel display: Open the Wi-Fi Direct menu or print a network configuration report to get the printer name and password.

    • Touch the Wi-Fi Direct icon  or open the Wi-Fi Direct settings menu to get the name and password.

  3. On your computer or phone go to wifi and connect it to your printer

  4. Select your printer with DIRECT in the name from the list of available networks (example: DIRECT-74-HP Deskjet2600).

  5. Select the Wi-Fi Direct printer signal in Wi-Fi settings

  6. If prompted for a password, type the password on the printer screen to connect.

then go to your HP Smart and then scan.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
