Product: Hp deskjet 2540

My phone was reprogrammed and is asking for a password for my HP Deskjet 2540 printer to connect to it. What could be the password?

@JoanE3, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

 

Are you trying to connect the phone and the printer via Wifi-Direct?

This is done only when you do not have access to a wireless router.

For more info, refer to - Printing with Wi-Fi Direct. The default password is 12345678.

 

If you have a wireless router, connect the printer using the WPS method as shown in this document.

Make sure the printer and the phone are connected to the same network. Use the HP Smart app to print.
