I was given a password when I set up the network coneciton for my OfficeJet 6978 printer, but I failed to write it down. Now it asks me for the password when I try to log on. I cannot find the network in Key Chain Access (I use a Mac). Any ideas on how I can recover the password?

 @Brylske,

Thank you for reaching out to the HP Support community!

Please provide the below information to assist you with an accurate resolution.

  • What is the status of the Wireless light? Is it solid or flashing?
  • Is the MAC connected to the printer using the 'WiFi Direct'(where you select the printer's network name from the list of available networks on your MAC) or is the printer connected to a personal WiFi network?

  • Please share the screenshot of the password prompt.
