Hi @Alex21021,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If the speakers on your HP 15-ey0000 laptop are not working in Linux, there are a few troubleshooting steps you can try to resolve the issue. Here's what you can do.

  • Check audio settings: Ensure that the speaker volume is not muted or set to a very low level. Look for the audio settings in your Linux distribution and adjust the volume accordingly.
  • Test with headphones: Connect a pair of headphones to your laptop and check if you can hear sound through them. If the audio works with headphones, it indicates that the issue might be with the laptop's speakers themselves.
  • Verify the audio output device: Sometimes, the audio might be directed to an incorrect output device. Right-click on the volume icon in your system tray or access the audio settings in your Linux distribution and check if the correct output device (speakers) is selected.
  • Update audio drivers: Ensure that you have the latest audio drivers installed for your laptop. Check the HP support website for any available driver updates specific to your model. Installing the latest drivers may help resolve any compatibility issues.
  • Check for system updates: Make sure your Linux distribution is up to date. Run the system update utility to install any available updates, including updates for audio-related components.
  • Test with a different Linux distribution or live USB: If the issue persists, you can try booting from a live USB of a different Linux distribution to see if the speakers work. If they do, it might suggest that the problem is related to the current installation of Linux, and you could consider reinstalling or troubleshooting the specific distribution you are using.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
