Hi @AG157,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It seems like you're experiencing audio glitches on your HP Laptop 14 due to ACPI.sys having abnormally high execution times. ACPI.sys is a system file related to power management and hardware configuration on Windows operating systems.
When it's consuming too much CPU time, it can affect the performance of real-time audio playback, causing glitches and interruptions.
Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve this issue.
- Update Drivers: Make sure all your drivers, especially the audio and chipset drivers, are up-to-date. You can typically find these updates on the HP website or through Windows Update.
- BIOS Update: Check if there's a BIOS update available for your laptop. Sometimes, BIOS updates include fixes for ACPI-related issues.
- Disable Power Management Features: Temporarily disable power management features such as SpeedStep, C-states, and Turbo Boost in the BIOS to see if it alleviates the issue. However, keep in mind that this might affect your laptop's power efficiency.
- Check for Background Processes: Close unnecessary background processes and applications that might be consuming CPU resources.
- Scan for Malware: Perform a full system scan for malware or viruses that could be causing abnormal CPU usage.
- Adjust Power Plan Settings: Switch to a high-performance power plan in Windows to ensure that the CPU is running at maximum capacity when needed.
- Hardware Diagnostics: Run hardware diagnostics to check for any potential issues with your laptop's hardware components, such as the CPU or RAM.
By following these steps, you should be able to troubleshoot and address the ACPI.sys-related audio glitching issue on your HP Laptop 14.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
