Updated Windows. Onboard audio no longer works. It works with the HP testing. In Device Manager Intel High Definition DSP has an error. There is no Realtek driver under Sound, video and game controllers. I tried downloading drivers from other chats and they would give the error 0x000100 Style of INF is different."

Hi @rocket-IV,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
I'd be glad to help you!
I'm sorry to hear about the frustration you're facing with your HP Pavilion laptop's audio after a Windows update. Let's work through this issue together to restore your audio functionality. To better understand the problem and provide the most effective help, here are a few questions:
- Have you recently installed any third-party audio applications or utilities that might have affected the drivers?
- Did you notice any other devices or components on your laptop malfunctioning after the Windows update?
- What specific version of Windows and build number are you currently using (e.g., Windows 11 22H2)?
Let's try these steps.
Verify Windows Update Completion:
- Ensure all pending updates are installed, including optional updates. Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update > View Optional Updates and install any driver-related updates available.
Reinstall the Realtek Driver:
- Visit the HP support website specific to your laptop model (HP Pavilion Laptop PC 15-eg0067st) and download the latest Realtek Audio driver.
- Uninstall any existing problematic audio drivers:
- Open Device Manager.
- Right-click the device with the error (Intel High Definition DSP) and choose Uninstall Device.
- Check the box for Delete the driver software for this device and restart your laptop.
- Install the downloaded Realtek driver from HP.
Install the Intel Smart Sound Technology (SST) Driver:
- The Realtek audio often depends on Intel SST for functionality. Download and install the latest Intel SST driver from the HP support site for your model.
Reset Windows Audio Settings:
- Open Settings > System > Sound > Advanced Sound Options and ensure the correct audio output is selected.
- Run the Playing Audio Troubleshooter under Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot > Additional Troubleshooters.
Check for BIOS and Chipset Updates:
- Visit HP's support page for your laptop and ensure the BIOS and chipset drivers are up to date. This step can resolve compatibility issues introduced by Windows updates.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance

Elohl_NR,
Thanks for trying to help. We have downloaded the Realtek drivers multiple times. We have to do it manually it won't let us do it automatically from the HP site. It attempts to install, but always says it applied to zero devices. I can't find the SST drivers to reinstall.
We are running Windows 23H2. Build 22631.4541
We can't run any of the Windows checks because it says there is no audio device detected. But the sound does work using the HP troubleshooting tools that aren't running in windows.
This is just a problem getting the driver back installed or getting windows to recognize the Realtek device.

speaker definition is lost/not defined.
realtek drivers went bye bye
it was torture fixing this issue.
Edition Windows 11 Home
Version 24H2
Installed on 12/5/2024
OS build 26100.2454
Experience Windows Feature Experience Pack 1000.26100.36.0
in device manager / view show hidden
there were no definitions for
audio inputs and outputs
audio processing objects (APOs)
to fix this goto
in device manager / view show hidden
the system devices section, update the intel smart sound drivers.
Intel® Smart Sound Technology BUS
Intel® Smart Sound Technology Detection Verification
Intel® Smart Sound Technology OEaudio inputs and outputs
delete and install newest drivers for the above.
this will cause
audio inputs and outputs
audio processing objects (APOs)
to qppear/exist
boot and problem is solved.
this fixes my problem.
i still don't know why the definitions disappeared.

Hi
I seem to have a similar problem - no audio devices detected.
As they are not detected there are no drivers - to update or delete.
I have a Pavilion Laptop 14-dv0xxx Notebook running W11 24H2 (10.0.26100)
The problem existed before my latest Windows update.
I have also updated the BIOS.
I only have: Intel® Smart Sound Technology BUS
I do not have: Intel® Smart Sound Technology Detection Verification or
Intel® Smart Sound Technology OEaudio inputs and outputs

I guess I don't completely understand what you posted, because I tried doing what you said and it makes no difference. I never had the exact same Intel SST drivers. I had BUS and one other that has now gone away and won't come back.
