Hi guys, I have a Windows laptop, and my mic isn't working. In Device Manager, under the AMD audio processor section, it's showing code 43. May I know what needs to be done to resolve the issue?

@Pavanty21, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

When you see Code 43 in Device Manager under the AMD Audio Processor section, it generally means there's a device issue, and the hardware has been stopped by Windows.

Here are the steps you can take to troubleshoot and resolve the issue on your HP Windows laptop:

Restart Your Laptop

Before diving into more complex troubleshooting, simply restart your laptop to see if that resolves the issue. Sometimes a reboot is enough to reset drivers or devices that have encountered a minor issue.

Run the Windows Troubleshooter

Right-click on the Sound icon in the system tray.

Select Troubleshoot sound problems.

Windows will scan for issues and attempt to automatically resolve them. Follow the on-screen prompts.

Update or Reinstall Audio Drivers

Open Device Manager (Press Win + X and select Device Manager).

Locate your AMD Audio Processor under the Sound, video, and game controllers section.

Right-click on the AMD Audio Processor and choose Update driver.

Select Search automatically for updated driver software and allow Windows to search for a new version of the driver.

If that doesn't resolve the issue, try uninstalling the driver:

Right-click on the device and select Uninstall device.

Restart your laptop, and Windows should attempt to reinstall the driver.

Go to HP Support and enter your laptop’s model number.

Download the latest audio driver for your specific model and install it.

Check for Windows Updates

Open Settings (Win + I), then go to Update & Security > Windows Update.

Click on Check for updates and install any available updates.

After installing the updates, restart your system and check if the issue is resolved.

Disable/Enable the Device

Open Device Manager.

Right-click on the AMD Audio Processor and choose Disable device.

Wait for a few seconds, then right-click again and choose Enable device.

Check if the microphone starts working.

Perform a System Restore

If the issue started recently and you suspect a system change (like a driver update or Windows update) caused it:

Open the Control Panel and search for Recovery.

Click on Open System Restore.

Follow the on-screen instructions to restore your system to a point before the issue occurred.

I hope this helps.

Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.

Take care and have a good day.
