Spectre 15 x360 (2017)
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I recenly purchased a 2017 Spectre 15 x360 (512/16/i7). Loving it so far except when using any 2 finger gestures on the trackpad.

I noticed that whenever I scroll pages using 2 fingers or performing any 2+ finger gesures (like zooming or swiping up with 3 fingers to get task view), there is an annoying static/buzzing sound coming from the speakers. It just happens when 2+ fingers register on the trackpad. When I point around using 1 finger, the static isn't there.

The sound does not get louder when I crank up the volume.

This is surprising since HP touts that special care has been involved in designing the audio components such as extra shielding and stuch. But it doesn't seem to be the case...

I recently updated the audio driver but rolled it back because it didn't fix a problem. But I didn't really notice any static before updating the driver. However, I'm not sure if this is the cause since I wasn't in a quiet enough place to notice.

It's not that big of a deal but in quiet environments, it is very noticable.

@cchipcookies,

Welcome to HP Forums, this is a great place to get support, find answers and tips.

Thank you for posting your query, I'll be more than glad to help you.

I understand that you are facing issues with your HP Spectre 15-ap000 x360 Convertible PC wherein you get a static/buzzing sound when you scroll pages using 2 fingers on the trackpad.

This issue could be related to the power adapter.

Let's go through a few steps to troubleshoot this issue.

And here's the step by step guide for you in the link: Using the TouchPad or ClickPad (Windows 10)

Also, check if you get the sound when you connect the AC adapter or when connected on battery only.

Let me know how this works.

You have a good day ahead.

@Rainbow23

I had the exact same problem as @cchipcookies and when I unplugged the power adapter it went away! Thanks 😄

When I plug it back in, the sound come back, when I scroll.

Is there a way to solve this problem if I want to keep the adapter plugged in?

Hi @rafsnelle,

I reviewed the post comprehensively. Excellent effort and superb resilience displayed to try and correct the issue. Kudos to you on that score. 🙂 As @Rainbow23 is out of office for the day, I am jumping in to assist you.

Please try these steps. Please visit a local Best Buy or Staples technician to try with a different adapter. If the noise goes away using a different adapter, then this adapter needs to be replaced. Do not buy the adapter, but use it only for testing.

You could contact HP phone support to get the adapter replaced from this link: http://hp.com/contacthp Please select the country and follow the on-screen instructions.

They will be happy to assist you immediately.

If the unit is under warranty, the manufacturer’s warranty should take care of it for you.

Hope this helps. Let me know how this goes. I genuinely hope the issue gets resolved without hassles and the unit works great.

To simply say thanks, please click the "Thumbs Up" button to give me a Kudos to appreciate my efforts to help. If this helps, please mark this as “Accepted Solution” as it will help several others with the same issue to get it resolved without hassles.

Take care now and have a superb week ahead. 🙂
