I have Realtek Audio driver preinstalled and it seems that every time it updates the sound becomes very quiet (barely audible). I've taken my device to PC World who are responsible for the warranty and they download the latest HP version which is fine. I'm told by them that the problem is caused by Windows auto-updating to their version. Is this a common problem and is there any way around it? I have the latest SSD drive laptop and have to keep reinstalling the audio driver - is that what HP expect?

@MatthewT1, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

You may have to disable the auto-updates until Microsoft releases a patch to fix this issue. Also, use HP Support Assistant to install any updates on the computer.

  1. In the search box, type and open HP Support Assistant.
  2. Check for updates.
  3. If the updates are available, click on install and restart the computer.

Note: If you do not have HP Support Assistant installed, Click here to download the same.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
