I just did upgrades on two HP laptops, a 15-da0053wm and a 15-bs234wm. Both of them have Realtek High Definition Audio Controllers. The 15-bs234wm has a driver version 6.0.8940.1 dated April 22, 2020, and the HP Audio Control software works just fine. It also shows an Intel Display Audio Controller, a driver version 10.27.08 dated January 21, 2020. The 15-da0053wm has a Realtek driver version 6.0.8924.1 dated March 26, 2020, with an Intel Display Audio Controller driver 10.27.09 dated February 25, 2020. The HP Audio Control software does not work.
I would think both of these would have identical audio controllers and should be using the same version of the drivers. I used the Intel Driver and Support Assistant, and It told me both machines were using the latest version of the drivers. The HP Support Assistant tells me there are no driver updates available.
Can anyone shed any light on this apparent driver inconsistency, and tell me how I can get the HP Audio Control software working again?

They are from two different series aren't they ? They use different CPU, chipset .... they MUST not be the same.
For the da machine, please perform a clean install Audio software/driver, this should help.
(a) Download the following driver and save on your computer,
https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp100001-100500/sp100428.exe
(b) Go to Device Manager, Sound to uninstall sound driver (Realtek) and reboot,
(c) Right click downloaded file and select Run as administrator,
(d) Reboot again.
Regards.
