Luckily it's not the only option 🙂

My workaround (because neither of those is a real solution...), described above, does not require any hardware purchase, does not take any USB or other ports, does not require any additional drivers in the system and if you already have some media player installed (I already had VLC on my laptop), it doesn't even require any additional software 🙂

Oh, and it looks to be a software issue, not a hardware one. The problem was not present on older releases of Windows 10 or on Windows 7, only appeared on more recent Win10 releases. And I was able to "fix it" with software only.

This morning I updated the Realtek HD audio driver, and Joy, no more popping sounds.

Well look at that! I just updated to the same driver using the HP Support Assistant and it's also fixed now as well. Speakers plugged directly into the dock and not getting the pop at all (let it sit for 2 minutes, just in case). So apparently what the told @Bling26 was complete BS and they *could* fix it...classic.

Well, I have a USB to AUX adapter to return now, thanks HP!

Ha, yeah confirmed, seems to be working fine for me now too with the new driver from HP SA. What a long time to wait for what I wanted in the beginning however I like to believe that they would have never fixed until we made noise about it so maybe it was all worth it 🙂   Well, now I have many extra USB soundcards lol.

Squeaky wheel gets the grease I guess! Thanks again @Bling26 for being the voice on this one. Glad we have it resolved!
