Hi @AllisonTroskie,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like the issue might be with your microphone settings. Here's a checklist to help you resolve the problem.

Check Your Microphone Settings in Zoom

  • Open the Zoom app and click on your profile picture (top-right corner).
  • Go to Settings.
  • Under Audio, make sure the correct microphone is selected in the Microphone dropdown.
  • You can test your microphone by clicking Test Mic in this section to see if it's working.

Check Your Laptop’s Microphone Settings

  • Right-click the speaker icon in the taskbar and select Sounds.
  • Go to the Recording tab.
  • Make sure your microphone is set as the default device and that it is enabled.
  • Speak into your microphone to check if the input levels respond. If you don’t see your microphone or it's disabled, right-click on an empty space and select Show Disabled Devices to enable it.

Adjust Microphone Permissions

  • Go to Settings > Privacy > Microphone.
  • Make sure Allow apps to access your microphone is turned on.
  • Scroll down and ensure that Zoom has permission to access your microphone.

Check Physical Connection

  • If you’re using an external microphone or headset, ensure it is properly plugged in or connected wirelessly.

Update Audio Drivers

  • Visit the Device Manager (right-click the Start button and select Device Manager).
  • Expand the Audio inputs and outputs section.
  • Right-click on your microphone and select Update driver.
  • Select Search automatically for updated driver software.

After completing these steps, test your audio again on Zoom.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Please click “Accepted Solution” if you feel my post solved your issue, it will help others find the solution. Click the “Kudos/Thumbs Up" on the bottom right to say “Thanks” for helping!
