Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi all,

Unfortunately, ever since I had a huge update to my laptop (which was and is Windows 10), my speakers are having the "audio services not responding" problem. I already tried a couple of methods suggested on other blogs, but they didn't help much either. Not interested in factory reset... would be greatly appreciated if any of you could give me some advice!

@Brian82

Welcome to HP Forums,

This is a great place to get support, find answers and tips,

Thank you for posting your query, I'll be more than glad to help you out,

As I understand there's no sound on your device,

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, however, to provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:

Did you restart the Audio services on the services.msc?

Have you reinstalled the audio drivers?

Did you check with an alternate headphones or external speakers?

While you respond to that, here's what you need to know:

Audio devices might need to be disconnected from the computer during the troubleshooting process.

   CAUTION:

Always follow manufacturer instructions for disconnecting USB devices from the computer. Some USB devices must be turned off and/or ejected before they are disconnected from the computer. Some other USB devices support the Windows Safely Remove Hardware feature.

Make sure Windows can produce sound from the speakers before using this article. If the computer cannot play sound from the speakers, choose one of the HP support documents below to resolve that issue:

The best way to do that is using the HP Guided Troubleshooter:

Click here to access it (simply select your description of the issue from the bottom of the screen to gain access to the next set of steps that should resolve your concern).

I would suggest you to login as administrator and check if you will be able to start the service.
a. Click Start, type Services.msc in the Start Search box.
b. Then press CTRL+SHIFT+ENTER to run as a Administrator.

c. Scroll down the list of services, right-click Windows Audio and select open.
d. Click on Dependencies
e. It will show Multimedia Class Scheduler, Remote Procedure Call (RPC) and Windows Audio Endpoint Builder make sure all the services are running on the list.

Keep me posted,

If the information I've provided was helpful,

give us some reinforcement by clicking the solution and kudos buttons,

that'll help us and others see that we've got the answers!

Good Luck.
