I had to factory reset my HP Spectre x360 Convertible 15-ch0xx which originally ran Windows 10 but was upgraded a while ago to Windows 11. Now both Audio and video playback are choppy and basically unusable.

Hi @JW566,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you are facing Audio and video playback issues on your HP Spectre x360 Convertible PC after a factory reset can be frustrating, but there are several steps you can take to troubleshoot and hopefully resolve the problem:
- Check for Updates: Ensure that your Windows 11 operating system is up to date. Sometimes, driver updates or system patches can address compatibility issues and improve overall performance.
- Update Drivers: Make sure all your device drivers, especially audio and graphics drivers, are up to date. You can do this through Device Manager or by visiting the HP support website for your specific model and downloading the latest drivers. HP Spectre 15-ch000 x360 Convertible PC
- Adjust Power Settings: Sometimes, power-saving settings can affect performance. Try adjusting your power plan settings to prioritize performance over power saving. You can do this by going to Control Panel > Power Options.
- Disable Background Apps: Background applications or processes might be consuming resources and causing playback issues. Close unnecessary apps running in the background and see if it improves performance.
- Check Audio and Video Playback Settings: Ensure that your audio and video playback settings are configured correctly. For example, check the audio sample rate and bit depth settings in the sound control panel. You can access this by right-clicking the speaker icon in the taskbar and selecting "Open Sound settings."
- Scan for Malware: Run a full system scan with your antivirus software to check for any malware or viruses that might be affecting performance.
- Hardware Diagnostics: Use HP's built-in hardware diagnostic tools to check for any hardware issues that could be causing the problem. These tools can usually be accessed by pressing F2 or another function key during startup. HP PCs - Testing for hardware failures
- System Restore: If the issue started after a specific software installation or update, you might consider using System Restore to revert your system to a previous state before the problem occurred.
- Reset Windows Media Player: If you're using Windows Media Player for playback, resetting it to its default settings might help. You can do this by going to Settings > Apps > Apps & features, finding Windows Media Player in the list, and selecting "Advanced options." From there, you can choose to reset the app.
