Since i've bought my PC in 2023 i've been having issues with audio. I've tried everything i've seen in this forum and on youtube and still couldn't fix it. This is very frustrating because i'm a music producer. I need my audio quality to be good to say the least. Turning it down to 16-bit makes no sense and I can't do it because i work at 24-bit. My drivers are all up to date, MME/directX works terribly, i always have to restart many times during a session.

It happens all the time, even when I'm using external audio cards.

One thing that actually helped was a solution for other common problem, the lid sensor. I disconnected it because it was broken (Obviously from being mounted where it is). Somehow it made the crackling less frequent, but it still stutters.

Sometimes i can't even watch something on youtube.

In 3 years i had to replace a fan, the charger and disconect the lid sensor and always had to deal with terrible audio. I'll never recommend HP to anyone.

Hi @SeveralNoise,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I understand to face audio issues, especially when working in music production. Here are some potential solutions and steps that might help alleviate the crackling/popping sound in your HP PC:

Steps to Address Audio Issues

Update Audio Drivers:

  • Ensure you have the latest audio drivers installed. You can download them from the Official HP® Support by entering your PC model and selecting the appropriate operating system.

Check Audio Settings:

  • Go to your sound settings and verify that the sample rate is set to 24-bit, which is your preferred setting. Sometimes a mismatch in these settings can cause audio distortion.

Use ASIO Drivers:

  • If MME/DirectX is causing issues, consider using ASIO (Audio Stream Input/Output) drivers, which are often more suitable for professional audio workstations and can reduce latency and improve sound quality.

Disable Audio Enhancements:

  • Sometimes, built-in audio enhancements can cause performance issues. Head to "Control Panel > Sound > Speakers (or the audio device) > Properties > Enhancements" and disable all enhancements.

Test with External Sound Card:

  • If possible, try using an external sound card. This can often circumvent onboard sound issues and improve audio quality significantly.

I hope this will help.

Take care and have a good day.
