Hi @Ambar34,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
Certainly, audio issues such as crackling and distorted sound can be frustrating, but there are several steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the problem. Here's a guide to help you fix audio issues on your Victus by HP Gaming Laptop 15 after updating to Windows 10 version 23H2.
Check Audio Drivers:
- Make sure your audio drivers are up-to-date. You can do this by going to the Device Manager, locating the "Sound, video and game controllers" section, right-clicking on your audio device, and selecting "Update driver."
Rollback Audio Drivers:
- If the issue started after a driver update, you might want to try rolling back the audio driver to the previous version. To do this, go to the Device Manager, right-click on your audio device, select "Properties," go to the "Driver" tab, and choose "Roll Back Driver" if the option is available.
Disable Audio Enhancements:
- Some audio enhancements or effects may cause issues. Go to the Sound settings:
- Right-click on the speaker icon in the taskbar and select "Open Sound settings."
- Under the "Output" section, click on the device you are using.
- Click on "Device properties."
- Go to the "Enhancements" tab and check "Disable all enhancements."
Change Audio Format:
- Go to Sound settings again:
- Right-click on the speaker icon in the taskbar and select "Open Sound settings."
- Under the "Output" section, click on the device you are using.
- Click on "Device properties."
- Go to the "Advanced" tab and try changing the default format to a different sample rate and bit depth.
Update Windows:
- Ensure that your operating system is fully updated. Sometimes, Microsoft releases additional updates that can address hardware compatibility issues.
Check for Third-Party Software Conflicts:
- Some third-party software or applications may interfere with audio playback. Try closing unnecessary background applications or disabling startup programs to see if it makes a difference.
Reinstall Audio Drivers:
- Uninstall the audio drivers completely and then reinstall them. To do this, go to the Device Manager, right-click on your audio device, select "Uninstall device," and then restart your computer. Windows will automatically reinstall the drivers.
Check for Hardware Issues:
- If the problem persists, there might be a hardware issue. Check if the issue occurs with external speakers or headphones. If it does, it could be a problem with the laptop's audio hardware.
Remember to back up important data before making significant changes to your system.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
