Hi,

After installing all updates, the sound is not working. It shows the "no audio device error installed" yet when I try to install drivers it shows the Realtek High-Definition (HD) Audio Driver is already installed. I also tried the web to auto detect the required drivers, but it shows I have all the required drivers.

Kindly assist.

Kind Regards,

Hi @Hantar,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

I Understand your concern about  audio issue, don’t worry let me help you with this.

To better understand the issue, could you please provide a few more details?

  • The exact model of your HP device.
  • The version of Windows you’re currently running (for example, Windows 11 23H2).
  • Whether the issue started immediately after the update or only after a restart.

In the meantime, here are a few troubleshooting steps you can try:

  1. Check Device Manager
    • Press Windows + X → select Device Manager.
    • Expand Sound, video and game controllers.
    • If you see Realtek HD Audio with a warning icon, right-click and choose Uninstall device, then restart your PC. Windows should reinstall the driver automatically.
  2. Run Windows Troubleshooter
    • Go to Settings → System → Troubleshoot → Other troubleshooters.
    • Run the Playing Audio troubleshooter and follow the prompts.
  3. Verify Audio Services
    • Press Windows + R, type services.msc, and hit Enter.
    • Ensure Windows Audio and Windows Audio Endpoint Builder are running. If not, right-click and select Start.
  4. Check Output Device
  • Right-click the speaker icon in the taskbar → select Sound settings.
  • Confirm the correct output device (speakers/headphones) is selected

I hope this helps.

I'm an HP Employee.
