Hello - I just purchased an HP Pavilion x360 laptop 14-ek0000. Set it up yesterday and all seemed ok. Tonight I am having sound issues in that even with the volume set to highest level, many videos seem to have much lower sound than they should and/or the sound seems muffled. I still have my previous computer that I am replacing here and when I turned that on and played the same video on both machines, I could tell that there was a significant difference in the sound quality and volume with the new machine sounding inferior to the old machine. I've run the troubleshooting option on the machine and it did not turn up any problems, but I know the sound is too low. A restart also did not help. Any ideas what might be causing this or how to fix? Thanks so much.

Hi @Keerthi26,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you are facing an issue with your HP Pavilion x360 laptop may need some adjustments or updates to resolve the audio issue. Here are some steps you can try:
1. Check Sound Enhancements
- Right-click the speaker icon in the taskbar and select Sounds (or Sound settings > More sound settings).
- Go to the Playback tab.
- Select your default playback device (likely Speakers/Headphones) and click Properties.
- Navigate to the Enhancements tab.
- Ensure Loudness Equalization is checked to boost softer sounds.
- If the tab is missing, move to the next step.
- Click Apply and OK.
2. Update Audio Drivers
- Open Device Manager:
- Press Windows + X and select Device Manager.
- Expand Sound, video, and game controllers.
- Right-click your audio device (e.g., Realtek High Definition Audio) and select Update driver.
- Choose Search automatically for updated driver software.
- If no updates are found, visit the HP Support website and check for audio driver updates specific to your model.
3. Reinstall Audio Drivers
- In Device Manager, right-click your audio device and select Uninstall device.
- Restart your laptop. Windows will reinstall the default driver automatically.
- Test the audio again.
4. Adjust Volume Mixer
- Right-click the speaker icon in the taskbar and select Volume Mixer.
- Ensure all sliders (e.g., System Sounds, Applications) are set to maximum.
5. Check Video Playback Application Settings
- Some apps, like YouTube or media players, have their own volume settings. Ensure the app's volume is turned up.
6. Perform Audio Diagnostics
- Open the HP Support Assistant app on your laptop.
- Navigate to Troubleshooting and Fixes > Audio Check.
- Follow the prompts to diagnose and fix audio issues.
7. BIOS Update
- Outdated BIOS firmware can sometimes cause sound issues.
- Visit the HP Support website to download and install the latest BIOS for your laptop.
8. External Speakers or Headphones Test
- Plug in a pair of external speakers or headphones. If they sound normal, the issue may be with the laptop's internal speakers.
