Microsoft Windows 11

I'm not able to get any audio output from my laptop. I did all the trouble shooting and driver updates, and every step suggested by hp support, but nothing worked.

@Jeevan20, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding Audio Issues on HP Laptops!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

If you've already gone through the troubleshooting steps and driver updates recommended by HP support and are still experiencing audio issues, there are a few additional steps you can take to try and resolve the problem:

Check Audio Playback Settings:

  • Right-click on the speaker icon in the taskbar and select "Open Sound settings."
  • Ensure that the correct output device (speakers or headphones) is selected under "Choose your output device."
  • Click on "Device properties" and ensure that the device is not muted and the volume is at an appropriate level.

Run the Audio Troubleshooter:

  • Navigate to Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot.
  • Select "Additional troubleshooters," then choose "Playing Audio" and click "Run the troubleshooter."
  • Follow the on-screen instructions to identify and resolve any audio issues.

Check for Windows Updates:

  • Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update.
  • Click on "Check for updates" and install any available updates that may address the audio issue.

Reinstall Audio Driver:

  • Open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start button and selecting "Device Manager."
  • Expand the "Sound, video and game controllers" section.
  • Right-click on your audio device and select "Uninstall device."
  • Restart your laptop. Windows should automatically reinstall the audio driver.

Check BIOS Settings:

  • Restart your laptop and enter the BIOS setup by pressing the designated key (usually F10, Esc, or Delete) during startup.
  • Navigate to the "Advanced" or "Integrated Peripherals" section.
  • Ensure that the onboard audio is enabled.

Restore System:

  • As a last resort, you can try restoring your system to a previous state when the audio was working.
  • Go to Control Panel > Recovery > Open System Restore.
  • Choose a restore point when the audio was functioning properly and follow the prompts to restore your system.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
