HP Pavilion - 15-cw1036au
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Suddenly (today) I have an audio issue with my 4 month old HP Pavillion.  All diagnostics tell me that my speakers are fine, but I can barely hear sounds from video clips, radio or Window sounds at all.

I have rebooted several times etc.

Sometimes the volume increases very loudly for 3 seconds and then drops down to a very soft volume.

All the volume indicators are on 100%
Please help.

Thank you.

Rita

Please do a clean install Audio software/driver, this should help.

(a) Download the following driver and save on your computer,

            https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp100001-100500/sp100144.exe

(b) Go to Device Manager, Sound to uninstall sound driver (Realtek) and reboot,
(c) Right click downloaded file and select Run as administrator,
(d) Reboot again.

Regards.

Hey how did you do it. Did you download any additional files besides the one listed before?

I've tried doing what he says but the problem still persists

Wow, it didn't work for me. Would you min describing me your process step by step?

Also, did you downloaded any additional files besides the one listed?

Hi,  I followed the instructions exactly as Banhien wrote and it worked perfectly the first time.

The only thing I've noticed is that in shutting the computer down, it now takes up to two minutes for the power light to go out.

I'm going to look into that today.

I hope this helps and if not, that Banhien will assist you as I'm not tech savvy.

Good luck.

Rita

I get the message "this app can't run on your computer."  What other link can I use?

Hi Banhien,

I have the same exact problem on my 4 Month old HP Pavillion 15-cw1068wm

I tried your suggestion step by step but I am getting an error during install:

The driver is not supported on this OS version (10.0.18362)

I am running on Windows 10 Home, Version 1903, OS build 18362.900

Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks.
