Hello,

after a windows update few days ago I suddenly have no sound from my laptop. In the tray icons area I have a red cross over the audio icon saying "no audio output devices installed". My Realtek sound card worked pretty fine before Windos upgraded. I obviously tried dozens of time to reinstall the Realtek driver and sound packet, with no results. I can't see the Realtek sound card from the installed devices in the Control Panel, like I did before the update.

If I connect a bluetooth speaker I hear the audio, as well as if I connect my laptop to my TV through HDMI.

How can I solve this problem?

Thank you

Hi,

I can try to update my Bios, if there is any newer, but I can't see the "Realtek Audio Device" in the "Sound video and game controllers" under "Device manager". I already re-installed the soft pac for it and updated again the audio driver, but I still can't see the "Realtek Audio Device" in the list.

The "auto detect your drivers" option doesn't work (it stucks or answer that's not possible to find any driver for me).

Any help?

Thanks

Giovanni

UPDATE: I updated the Bios, but nothing changed. My audio still doesn't work

Hi@Jo_777,

I recommend you follow the below steps and check if it helps.

  1. Turn off your HP laptop.
  2. Disconnect all external devices (printers, USB drives, etc.) from your computer.
  3. Remove all recently added internal hardware.
  4. Press the Power button to switch your HP laptop on.
  5. Once your unit starts booting, immediately press the F11 key. Repeatedly press it until you see the Choose an Option screen.
  6. Select Troubleshoot.
  7. Choose Reset this PC.
  8. You can either opt to keep your files or to remove everything.
  9. Select Keep My Files when you want to retain your data. Once you click Reset, your operating system will be reinstalled. The process may take a while.
  10. Choose Remove Everything when you want to remove all your personal files.
  11. You can opt to remove everything solely on the drive where your operating system is installed. On the other hand, you can click All Drives when you do not want to retain any data.
  12. You can also fully clean the drive you selected or just remove your files.
  13. Click Reset.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Hi praveenbv,

if I understood well, you are suggesting me to reset my operating system, so I will lose all the softwares I installed and all the set-ups. Did I understood well?

If so, I can't do it, as I have a lot of software installed with personal set-ups that I can't lose.

Please tell me if I have understood well or not.

I have to add that if I connect a bluetooth device or if I connect my laptop to a smartTV (by HDMI) I can hear all the sounds correctly (even if I can't still see the audio driver in the device manager list).

Thanks again

`We have done the basic troubleshooting as per the document and the notebook needs to checked taking remote access so that get to know it's a hardware or software issue.

I'd suggest you contact HP in your region regarding the service options for your computer or HP Chat Support Team.
