Elitebook 8570p
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi everyone,

I'm having trouble getting the audio to work on my 8570p in Windows 10. At first the volume mute button was not lit at all so I installed the IDT driver for windows 8.1. Then, the button lit up but it was the opposite from what windows was shown, the button would be orange but windows would show not muted. If I push the button, or mute in windows, the button turns white but windows shows muted. I'm not getting sound through the speakers or through headphones.

I also tried the Windows 8 and Windows 7 drivers from the support page here: https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/hp-elitebook-8570p-notebook-pc/5212912

I also tried manually selecting the High Definition Audio driver manually in device manager and it doesn't work, the button is not lit at all.

Has anyone found a proper driver for this on Windows 10?

Thanks

Edit: Running Windows 10 version 1903

Please download and install the following IDT High Definition (HD) Audio software:

Regards.

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately when I try to install that package I get an error saying the hardware is not supported.

Do you have any other ideas?

So a quick update, I uninstalled the driver, rebooted, and installed the windows 7 driver in compatibility mode. I still have the same issues but if I run the audio troubleshooter it will ask to test the speakers, if I do that I get sound. However if I click keep driver other applications don't work.

Thoughts?

Another update, I got it working.

It appears the audio device part of IDT was acquired by a company called Tempo Semiconductor at some point. Their site isn't particularly helpful but they have a list of drivers for IDT devices for Windows 10: https://temposemi.com/support/windows-10-driver-support-2/

I downloaded the driver dated 6/18/2015 here: https://www.catalog.update.microsoft.com/Search.aspx?q=%22Tempo%22%20%2B%20%22Audio%22

Tempo - Audio Device - IDT High Definition Audio CODEC version 6.10.6504.0

I extracted the archive then installed the driver manually through device manager. Under Sound, video and game controllers (NOT Audio inputs and outputs) right click IDT High Definition Audio Codec and select update driver. Select Browse my computer for driver software. Select Let me pick from a list of available drivers on my computer. Select  Have disk. Browse to the extracted archive and you should see STWRT64. Select that and install, then reboot.

The mute button LED does not work, but pressing the button does mute/unmute the audio. So I'll call it 90% fixed...good enough for now lol.

If you have this issue you may need to do some trial and error with the different versions they have listed. The first one, dated 7/2/2015 did not work for me so I started going down the list and got lucky with the second one. If you have trouble I would try making sure all IDT software is removed and drivers uninstalled so you start with a clean slate.
