UPDATED AS: Something is deleting Settings>Sound>Output while laptop is running. Suddenly get "No Audio output".
I suddenly get no audio after computer has been on and running fine for awhile. Red X on Taskbar audio. Settings>System>Sound says: "No output devices found"
On Restart, audio is fine. Settings>System>Sound says: "Speakers (Conexant ISST Audio)"
But after awhile, problem happens again.
Tried Troubleshooting, yielded: "Troubleshooting couldn't identify the problem."
Tried HP Support Assistant>Support>OneClickFixes>AudioCheck
Audio Diagnostic Results:
Task: Audio device is disabled Status: Fixed
All other tasks: No Issues Found
Microphone Diagnostic Results:
Task: Audio device is disabled Status: Fixed
All other tasks: No Issues Found
Audio Check Diagnostics: Repairing the Audio Drivers: Driver status:Installed
But problem reoccurred.
Tried: HP Support Assistant>Troubleshooting>NoSoundfromtheComputer
Recommendation: 'In Device Manager. find your sound card, open it and Update Driver',
In DeviceManager> Sound, video and game controllers > Conexant ISST Audio
RClick>UpdateDriver yielded eventually
"Windows has successfully updated your drivers"
Restarted and again, after awhile, problem reoccurred.
Opened DeviceManager>AudioInputsAndOutputs
Tried: MicrophoneArray(Conextant ISST Audio)>UpdateDrivers
Tried: Speakers(Conextant ISST Audio)>UpdateDrivers
Both yielded: "Windows has determined the best driver for this device is already installed."
Finally Checked that Windows Update is up-to-date.

@rit218 Have you attempted to update the BIOS, Video card & Audio drivers to resolve this issue?
If not, here's the link to download and install the above updates: Click here
- While you respond to that, here's what you need to do:
Step 1: Right-click on the Start button in the taskbar area and then click Device Manager to open the same.
Step 2: In the Device Manager, expand Sound, video and game controllers.
Step 3: You should now see your audio driver name. Most likely you have Realtek High Definition Audio, Right-click on it and then click Uninstall device option.
Step 4: You will now get the following confirmation dialog. Select Delete the driver software for this device checkbox and then Yes button when you see the confirmation dialog to go ahead and uninstall the device driver.
Restart your PC once & it should auto-reinstall a working driver.
If the issue with the sound continues, The best way to resolve the issue is by using the HP Guided Troubleshooter:
CLICK HERE FOR STEP BY STEP GUIDE
(simply select your description of the issue from the bottom of the screen to gain access to the next set of steps that should resolve your concern).

I have a similar issue with the Conextant ISST Audio Device. Mine happens after I have to do a hard reboot because the computer freezes up (another problem I am still fighting).
I also run the troubleshooter and it says there is no issue found. Updating the drivers doesn't help, the current drivers are the latest.
Is there a way to uninstall this audio device and install a different software?

I have gone through your Post and would like to help
I suggest you download and run the HP Support Assistant from this Link: https://www8.hp.com/us/en/campaigns/hpsupportassistant/hpsupport.html?jumpid=va_r602_us/en/any/psg/p...
HPSA will automatically search for all the latest drivers for your Notebook
-
Click My devices in the top menu, and then click Updates in the My PC or My notebook pane.
-
Click Check for updates and messages to scan for new updates.
-
Review the list of updates. Updates with a yellow information icon are recommended. Updates with a blue information icon are optional.
-
Click the update name for a description, version number, and file size.
-
Select the box next to any updates you want to install, and then click Download and install.
Also ensure Windows is up to date.
Select the Start button, and then go to Settings > Update & security > Windows Update , and select Check for updates. If Windows Update says your device is up to date, you have all the updates that are currently available
Keep me posted how it goes
Thank you and have a wonderful day 😊

I have used the HP support assistant and also reinstalled the entire operating system recently to correct another issue.
Neither of those helped.
I also have an issue where the Conextant Flow program runs and uses a lot of processing power for no reason. I see others have had this issue as well.
That's why I am asking if I can switch to a different audio program.
