Hi,
I am having HP Notebook model 15ac173tu with windows 10 64 bit. Recently as I felt that the audio sound is low than previous with the same sound level so I updated my realtek HD audio driver from device manager and also updated windows but the volume is still the same. So then I downloaded driver from HP site which was available. But it is not getting installed as the installation wizard gets started and runs but it is not able to finish the process. I tried it couple of times but no result. I also ran the troubleshooter for audio but still no difference. The old details of driver are - Driver date - 26-09-2016. Driver Version – 6.0.1.7944.. And the new version details are - 6.0.1.7944 Rev.A. Oct 5, 2016. which is not getting installed. What might be the issue?

Hey there! @Prafull1,
Were there any recent windows update on the PC?
Please share the product number of the PC to assist you better.
Try updating windows to the latest version and check if it helps.
Also, the application you are using to play the audio increase the volume in it.
Try the steps recommended below.
Check the Selected Playback Device:
If you have multiple playback devices, check the one you need sound on is the default device. You can do that by right-clicking the speaker icon on the system tray and selecting Playback devices. That will open the window directly below that lists playback devices. Right-click the one that needs to be the default playback device and select Set as Default Device.
Also, try the steps recommended below.
Go to Windows Device Manager > Sound, video and game controllers section.
In the list of audio device drivers, look for Realtek High definition Audio. This is the device driver for BeatsAudio (a little bit sneaky, wouldn’t you say?).
Right-click and select Disable. The downward arrow displays on this driver, indicating it is disabled. (NOTE: At this point, you won’t be able to play any music files.)
Right-click and select Update Driver Software.
Select Browse my computer for driver software.
Select Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer.
You should see a window that says Select the device driver you want to install for this hardware. NOTE: If you see a window that says something like This is the best driver for this device, exit the window and repeat steps 4, 5, and 6.
In the Model box, highlight Realtek Audio Device (this is the substitute audio device driver) and click Next.
At the Update Driver Warning window, click Yes. You should see a confirmation window with High Definition Audio Device displayed. Click Close.
In the list of audio device drivers in the Sound, video and game controllers section, you’ll notice that the High Definition Audio Device now displays instead of Realtek High definition Audio.
At the prompt to reboot, click Yes.
If the issue still persists try the steps recommended below.
Select the Equalization Setting
If the volume level is inconsistent in Windows, some software sound will be somewhat lower than what it could be. The Loudness Equalization setting can make a difference. This option ensures more consistent volume across all programs, which will increase the average audio level.
Select the Equalization Setting
Right-click the speaker system tray icon and select Playback devices.
Then right-click your default speakers and select Properties to open the window and then, Select the Enhancements tab >> Select the Loudness Equalization option.
Click the Apply and OK buttons to close the window.
Lastly, uninstall the audio driver from the device manager and update the driver and BIOS using the HP support assistant.
You can update drivers on the PC using HP support assistant.

Hi,
Thanks for your prompt response. My product no. is P6M78PA as you have asked. I regularly update my Windows 10 whenever the updates are available so it is always updated. Secondly the solutions you provided were tried by me before posting my query here. I tried to install High Definition Audio device instead of my current Realtek driver but It showed some error by the system and didn't get installed. I also tried to look for the enhancement tab in default speaker properties under playback but there are all other tabs but no enhancement tab so couldn't perform the necessary function of loudness equalization. I also ran the troubleshooter for audio sound but there was no difference. My main concern is after downloading the next version of realtek driver from HP website why it is not getting installed as the installation wizard starts running but it is not getting finished so the driver is not getting installed. Is there any compatibility problem with the next version of driver? Also I have one more doubt that is there a possiblity of dust getting collected on speakers which might be the cause? I use my laptop only at home and for around 4-5 hours daily and it has been serviced 2 years back from my retailer's technician as I don't have any hardware knowledge for servicing. Can you suggest how often should I service my laptop?
Thanks,
Have a nice day.

Hi! @Prafull1,
Thanks for the update and you don't have to service the laptop unless there is a hardware issue on the PC.
Try the steps recommended below.
Add legacy hardware before installing the driver
Follow steps below to add legacy hardware.
In Device Manager, click Action > Add legacy hardware. (If you only see ‘Help’ under this option, please click the blank place of the list pane then click ‘Action’ again. )
Follow the on-screen instructions to add the “Sound, video and game controllers” branch and “Realtek High Definition audio device”.
Install the driver again.
Fix driver conflicts
Realtek has a known conflict with the Microsoft UAA Bus Driver for High Definition Audio. Follow steps below to fix the conflict.
Go to Device Manager. Expand the System Devices branch and find Microsoft UAA Bus Driver for High Definition Audio.
Right click on the device and click Disable.
Go to Programs and Features and locate the Realtek High Definition Audio Driver entry. Uninstall the driver. (Do not reboot the system.)
Go back to Device Manager and uninstall the disabled Microsoft UAA Bus Driver for High Definition Audio. (Do not reboot the system.)
Reinstall the Realtek HD Audio Driver (If “Found New Hardware Wizard” pops up, ignore it.).
After installation is complete, reboot the system.
Lastly, try running an audio test from the F2 system diagnostics page to rule out a hardware issue.
Refer this article to know more information about running a system diagnostics test. Click Here
Hope to hear from you soon!
Take Care! 🙂
