I've got a HP ENVY Laptop - 13-ba0010na. After downloading all the recommended drivers with no luck. I've gone into the sounds settings & unchecked all the sounds advanced settings. It's been 2hrs & no lowering volume issues so far, so fingers crossed. However, I don't understand how HP are not able to identify a solution to this issue. I'd like to have the sound enhancements but switching on the advanced settings clearly causes an issue. I'll give a shout if I've still got issues in a few days.

Thanks for the tip. On my hp envy ep0008na, there are no advanced settings in the audio settings .I've unticked everything but doesn't seem to have made a difference. I also force stopped some realtek processes which didn't make things worse but didn't fix the issue. I really hope they can fix the problem. The laptop is great in all other aspects. I'll wait til New Year then may need to send this back and go back to Lenovo. I never had a problem with their machines.

OK so I changed a few settings and this seems to have worked.  This is what I did:

1. go to sound settings -> sound control panel
2. select speaker -> configure button -> next -> tick the box for Front left and right on "full-range speaker" screen -> next -> finish
3. select speaker -> advanced tab -> untick everything -> apply
4. communications tab -> select "do nothing"

5. Re-boot.  Profit.

This seems to have worked so the sound is not fading down.  I'm not sure which specific thing fixed it, but I know that doing only the advanced settings did not fix it for me, so apply all the changes and it should work.

As far as i can tell, this is most likely a software version rather than hardware , but it's going for a while now, and still no REAL fix from HP . I'm thinking downgrading the windows to an older version, but i'm a bit reluctant to do so, since i have a lot of stuff which i would like to lose yet...If anyone is willing to try and leave a reply here, would be highly apreciated .

Are the older versions of Windows even available?

Yes this is indeed all I had to do as well. Unfortunately I experienced the issue again today. However, it's not as frequent as before, so I guess I'll manage it till maybe a Windows 10 or Real tech update that resolves the issue.

@TESLAAAAA Did you get anymore help from support? I'm hesitant to contact them & waste my time because it seems there's no resolution to this issue. I'm considering returning my laptop & getting another but seems this issue is across most of the new HP laptops. Wondering if I should throw the towel in with HP after 15years.

I got no further help so am just using the laptop with external speakers which is not ideal . This is my first and last hp laptop . It was Good value but I guess you get what you pay for . Ill be going back to Lenovo for my next laptop .
